If you are using the free version of it, then you can get a maximum of 2 bookmarks only but with paid version you will get unlimited folder bookmark option.

Downloading this folder utility:

The size of the demo version of FolderJump software is only 381Kb. It can be used on various Windows platform such as Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit are supported). The latest version of the FolderJump is 2.0.0.25.

Installation:

The installation process is very simple, easy and fast. FolderJump takes around 500Kb of disk pace, which is nothing. Since, FolderJump is an add-on type of tool, so you won't be shown a window on your screen. It is recommended to close all the programs before installing this software.

The difference between the Demo version and the Paid version is the number of bookmarks. In paid version unlimited bookmarks on the folder is possible whereas in Demo version only 2 bookmark option are available. The cost of the paid version is around $17.

How to Use FolderJump folder Utility

Go to any folder, which will be the parent folder and right click on the mouse and then select FolderJump option from there and go to the properties section. With the FolderJump you will get three more facilities and they are available here for free of cost, which are Open In editor, Command prompt from Folder and Copy paths to clipboard. These functions need to be enabled first before using it. To enable it you can click on the options menu of the Properties Window and then select any of the features. You can notice this property by right click of the mouse (the screenshot below only enabled command prompt option). In this way, you can enable all of the options or only one, the choice is yours.

The "Browse Folder" button will help you to select the path of the folder. After doing that select the folder to your liking and remember you can select many folder after that but by default they will be the child of the first folder you have selected. You can change it by the use of different arrow buttons. The caption is nothing but a temporary name given to the folder you can change it.

You can also check out CarbonFolder free folder synchronization software.

To bookmark any folder right click on mouse and go the FolderJump option , after that choose the Bookmark "Folder" option. The "Folder" will be the current folder where you are present. Only 2 bookmarks are possible in the Demo version.

Conclusion:

FolderJump not only makes the switching between folders easy but fast too. For a normal home user Demo version is enough for daily use, but it may vary from person to person. The color of the folder can be changed, which I find great because by this way you can differentiate between the folders.

Windows Toolbar to Enhance your Desktop: InfoBar

Posted: 06 Jun 2012 05:15 AM PDT

InfoBar is something very similar to a browser toolbar, only InfoBar is installed on your system and acts as a toolbar for the entire Windows interface, not just your browser. InforBar offers a lot of options and you can use it for a number of different things, some of which can even be quite useful, for example there’s a desktop zoom plugin that you can use as a reading aid, if you’re having troubles with eyesight.

InfoBar default

The default location of the InfoBar will be at the top of the desktop screen, there’s no way of changing its location, if you were planning on placing it somewhere else. Image above reveals only some of the options that InfoBar has to offer. Rest of the goodies can be accessed if you click on the yellow star at the top left corner of the toolbar. The basic info which InfoBar offers is pretty impressive, so let’s have a look at that first.

System resources information for Windows

Main purpose of this toolbar is to inform the user about various aspects of the system, hence the name InfoBar. You can see on the image above that basic system information is being displayed on the right part of the toolbar, things like:

  • System uptime – how long the computer has been working
  • Power supply status – this is for laptops, if it’s on charger or on battery
  • Processor usage – measured in percentages
  • Random access memory usage – how much RAM is being used

InfoBar system resources

Here they all are, in the order that they were mentioned on the list above. Next to them on the right you have date and time, and on the left there’s weather forecast. The lower bar is what’s more interesting, because that’s where RSS Feed bar is located.

Read RSS feeds with windows toolbar

InfoBar is really versatile, you can even read RSS feeds with it, the lower bar which you can see on the images above has RSS feed news moving across it. You can even add your own feeds if you click on the yellow star and select RSS Feeder

InfoBar RSS Feeder

Save notes, zoom desktop and more

To see the full list of options that Info Bar has to offer, click on the yellow star in the top left corner, we’ve already mentioned it several times. List of options that you get is this:

  • Desktop Explorer << this is the zoom tool
  • Calculator
  • Calender
  • Coding Tools
  • ASCII Table
  • Notepad
  • Weather Forecast
  • RSS Feeder

All of these are amazing, but the thing which was mentioned in the beginning is what’s best in my humble opinion.

InfoBar desktop zoom

With this tool, called Desktop Explorer you can zoom in on a certain area of the desktop and for example read small text which is always a problem for the visually impaired. Out of all the other tools mentioned here, Notepad is the second best, in it you can write down and save notes, it’s not the Windows Notepad, it’s actually a standalone InfoBar Notepad. If you’re looking for ways to enhance your desktop, this windows toolbar is the way to go, and best of all it’s free.
