Free Tor VirtualBox Machine for Privacy Protection: TorBox

TorBox is a free VirtualBox machine which contains the Ubuntu GNU/Linux operating system installed within it. This system isn’t an ordinary Ubuntu installation, it comes completely optimized and configured to work with Tor. The entire machine can be downloaded from the Internet and in order for you to start using it, it just needs to be imported into the VirtualBox virtual machine manager, which we’ve talked about before.

There’s actually two different virtual machines that you have to download before you can use TorBox. One is called Gateway while the other one Workstation, both of them are needed in order for you to be able to see what can be seen on the image above, Tor browser (Firefox 10) working inside the TorBox workstation. Like we mentioned already everything is configured automatically with some very useful plugins being included in the Tor browser. Other interesting things that you get with TorBox would be:

Openbox desktop environment for faster use
Basic applications like PDF Viewer, Text editor
Privacy extensions for Firefox – No Script, HTTPS Everywhere
Easy setup and usage, few clicks and you’re ready to browse safely

Note that these virtual machine images are rather large, both of them are around 800MB in size, so you if you don’t have a fast internet connection or if you are limited when it comes to traffic, you might have to find someone else to download it for you.

How to use TorBox – free Tor VirtualBox machine

To use TorBox and protect your online identity you’re gonna have to have VirtualBox installed, which is available for all major operating systems. After downloading the two images, open up VirtualBox and select File >> Import Appliance.

After you do that both of the images should appear in the list of virtual machines that you can run. First start by starting the Gateway machine. This machine doesn’t have an interface, it will just act as a relay to which the Workstation machine is gonna connect to. After the Gateway machine is fully loaded, start up the Workstation machine and that’s basically it. The machines are gonna be communicating on their own, without you having to change settings.

Adhcifar is a very small, very lightweight and a very free file encryption application which you can use in order to protect important files and documents from being accessed by snoopy friends, colleagues or family. Sharing a computer is never easy, but now with Adhcifar you can encrypt data that you don’t want other people to see and that way make sure that your privacy is not intruded.

The first thing which you are gonna notice will probably be the fact that the application runs fully maximized, and you cannot turn it off, which is a bit odd. What’s even more confusing is that there’s no classic interface where you can click File and then Open to load files that you want encrypted or Encrypt button when you are ready to add encryption, you can’t even use your mouse everything is controlled with the keyboard. Some of the more interesting features found in Adhcifar would be:

How to protect and encrypt files with Adhcifar

First and most important step that you need to make would be to copy the files that you would like to encrypt inside the folder where the Adhcifar application is located:

Since there’s no open file dialog, files that you want encrypted are gonna be automatically detected, but they need to be placed in the same directory where Adhcifar application is located. If you are encrypting large files and a lot of them, it’s much simpler to copy Adhcifar app, but make that you select the .bas file which has the same name with the main application .exe.

As soon as Adhcifar opens up, you’ll be able to browse through the files which are placed in the folder. Use the right/left directional keys for that. It’s best that you first use your mouse to click on the H icon located right below the application name at the top. That will open up the help text where icons and keyboard controls are explained.

Click on the file name, that will open it up, enter password and hit Enter, that’s gonna encrypt the file. It should have a completely different extension from the one that it had before, see image above. To decypt the file, simply repeat the process and it will return back to normal.

Conclusion

Even though file encryption with the help of Adhcifar is a bit unusual, it does it’s job. Files are protected, the only drawback would be that you have to encrypt one file at a time, but if you only need to protect important documents and files, and you don’t have a lot of them, then this is the tool for you.

Free Logic Based Online Golf Game: Wonderputt

Wonderputt is a free online Golf game; where you have to play the game with logic. Play this logic game which is more like a golf game played on a different platform as shown in the below screenshot.

You must have tried Golf Game on Facebook and felt like the legend Tiger Woods. But this game is quite different from conventional golf game. The ball drops from the sky like an Asteroid and then you start your journey to drive the ball to its destination. Though it's a 2D game, the structure is all 3D, and you also have to think and play in that aspect only. Try this online golf game and have fun.

The platform which you see in the above screenshot, changes every time you drive the ball into the hole. The ball travels through the whole platform in different ways; it travels through lifts, submarines, escalator, etc. The bottom line is, the game is very interesting but small. I'm writing about this game because I had sheer fun playing it. The only motto which makes you stay on it for long time, is to compete with your own score and achieve the best score. Collect all the spherical rainbows to score more (as shown in below screenshot) and shoot the ball into the hole in less number of turns.

The controls are pretty simple, you just have to use your mouse to shoot the ball. Move the mouse around the ball and it shows an arrow, the more you move away from it, the more power it gets. Left click when you have adjusted your direction and power. Check out the below screenshot to see a pictorial description of instructions. The first point shows you how to shoot, the second depicts that you have to pick the spherical rainbows, and third point shows how the rainbow completes level by level.

Once you have completed the whole game, the score board will show how much time you took to complete this online golf game, and how many stroke points, wonder points, time points, and total points you have got. You can view previous scores and best scores also. You can jump to any of the level you have completed or else play the whole game again. You can also see what achievements you have earned during the game: Putt Putt Pass Badge, 1 Ball 1 Cup 1 Stroke Badge, and It's a Wonderputt life badge, and you get extra points for these.

Verdict:

One of the most basic feature that Movie Guide lacks is the ability to write users reviews; there is no such option available in this application. The application also some time not bring up all the information, sometime it cannot bring up the whole details about movie. I know the Application is new and is in the phase of being developed but I hope the developer adds more features to this nice movie app for Windows 8.

Use the Hand tool to reveal more of the design, and if you want to make any kind of adjustments to the interface, for example adjust the thumbnail size or change the background of the CAD document, you can do that if you click on the menu icon at the top and select Options.
