The font has been kept as classic yellow color which actually creates a sense of focus when the program is run in the full mode. You can hit the escape key to toggle between the two windows of the application.

Moreover click on the right click button of your mouse and you would be surprised to see the numerous options that come along. It has more than 30 context menu entries which lets you customize the program in several ways. You can change the look, color, size, language, layout, typeface size and virtually perform all the activity which you would have on your favorite word processor. It also gives you the option to save a document, print them or export them, mark the text as you like, make them bold italics and add all the other effects you would like to. You may even save your preferences as profiles so that you have the ease to use the same settings when you work on this application later. Dajukebox is a free music player you can use to play albums, edit tags, organize music and even play online radio. The application uses Microsoft's DirectShow architecture to provide great audio quality and support some of the most common audio formats like MP3, OGG and FLAC.

How to use Dajukebox Music Player

Installation was totally uneventful. The user interface is quite different from what we are used for and I must say it looks amazing.

One of the strong points of Dajukebox is the audio library which groups songs based on albums. To add songs to the audio library, click the menu icon on the top left, select library and select Add. Choose a folder to add music from and click Select. You can use the same menu to open a new album, delete an existing album, clear the albums list and to create a new album. To manipulate albums use the Album menu. From the menu, you can edit song tags, delete songs from albums, burn songs from a particular album to disc and get information about the album from online databases. You can also organize all song in the album to a specific folder or copy them to a location of your choice.

To play an album, double click on the album to access all files in the album. To play individual files, select a file and click play. To play another file, select it and click play. The music player prompts you to choose how you want the request to be handled. You can add it to the end of the playlist, add to the next playlist, play it immediately or navigate to the playing album by selecting the respective option on the menu that appears. To navigate back to the albums list, double click on the album title.

To play online radio, click on the radio tabs. The program already has a list of available radio stations but if you feel the need to add your own local radio stations, you can easily do so. To add a custom radio station, click the menu icon, select radio and click New radio station. You will be prompted to enter various details like URLs and station names, click Save to add the station. You can also edit and delete existing radio stations by selecting the respective options.

The playlist enables you to create a list of files to play in a particular sequence. To manipulate files in the playlist, click the menu icon and select the playlist. The playlist menu allows you to delete, move up and down, delete a playlist, open playlist files and clear playlist by clicking on the respective options. The icons to the left of the interface allow you to show or hide the playlist, show album information, show artist information and even show song lyrics. Program settings are accessible from the Settings tab. On the General settings tab, you can set file associations, edit templates and choose directories to store playlists and databases, click Save to store any changes you have done. You can maximize, minimise and restore the window to its original size by selecting the respective options on the menu icon.You can set fonts, font sizes and styles for various text in the program by accessing the Library Panels from the Settings tab

WorldDesk is a utility which will create a virtual operating system inside your Dropbox or Box accounts or locally on your thumb drive which you can then use on the go. This is the perfect tool for anyone who wants to have a different working environment separate from the default operating system that is installed on the computer. Box version is for those who use Box online storage, while the Slacker pack has some small games, and can play videos, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. We’ve already mentioned all the different uses that this type of a machine can have:

In order to rotate the text or your images you just need to click on the image or the text you have inserted and use the scroll button on your mouse. Keep scrolling till you feel the picture or text is in the right position.

So when you are done adding images and text to your envelope you can repeat the same by adding more pictures, playing with the fonts and sizes or may be rotating them to look much better.

Further you may customize your envelope size and apply other settings as well. In order to do so you need to click on tools and then the Envelope Size from the drop down menu. This would bring in a new window with two tabs and options all over. So you can select the size you wish to and click on Use on current document to apply the changed settings on your current envelope. You can also take a print out of the software itself. Click on the File option and select Print Preview from the Drop Down in order to view the print options. A new window pops up asking you the printer you wish to use for printing, the layout of your prints, check out the print preview, etc. You may use the advanced option too for customizing the print format further. After you are done setting all of these just click on the Print option to print your envelope.

Golden FTP Server is a free FTP server application for Windows, which can be used to create a FTP server from your home computer. FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol and there are several different reasons why someone would be interested in running a FTP server on their home computer, main one of course would be so that files and data can be more easily accessed by others or perhaps even the owner, when they are not home.

Program also runs in the tray and it can be set so that it starts with Windows so that you computer becomes a FTP server right after you boot up into the system. There are some things that you need to know before you decide to run a FTP server, main one would be that you inform yourself what FTP servers are all about. Working with FTP, File Transfer protocol

We connect to FTP servers when we either need to download files or upload files, for the most part at least. Connecting via an FTP connection gives you access to files that are present on the opposite end, and depending on your privileges, if you are allowed to, you can even upload files to the remote server. This is usually done when you want to upload websites and put them online, but when you are running a FTP server yourself, things are a bit different.

This will be the IP address of your computer, or should I say your home network and in continuation the location of the chosen folder. The numbers above will of course be different for you, because this was just a test run. It’s important to know, if you are planning on running a server to know that majority of ISPs routers change their IP address each day at least once, and if you want to keep the same address you’re gonna have to ask your ISP for a static IP address, or use DNS services like DynDNS.

If everything went fine, you should be able to open you server by clicking on the given FTP link, see images above. What we tested is the free version of Golden FTP, there are some limitations to it, like lack off:

  • Advanced stats
  • IP blocking
  • User account
  • It can’t see hidden folders and files

These are not something too horrible, and if you are just starting out, Golden FTP Server Free will be more than enough for you.

Free Text Editor to Replace Windows Notepad: GetDiz

GetDiz is a free text editor designed to replace the Windows text editor, Notepad. GetDiz now comes with an interesting array of features but still manages to keep its light weight nature meaning that speed and usability are not in any way compromised by the new features. The developers clearly indicated that it should replace Notepad on your windows machine so we set out to find out just how good it was.

  • Save txt, diz, nfo files onto text files.
  • Convert UNIX files to Windows text files.
  • Supports drag and drop.

How to use it

Installation was very smooth. The program creates file associations immediately as it launches. Its interface is very much like Notepad except for the background colour and the command buttons at the bottom. You also get the very first feel of how the program displays ASCII art.

Just like most ordinary text editors and generally many programs, the File menu contains file manipulation commands. Some of the tasks you can perform include, saving, printing text, opening existing files and creating new files. Also you can get a preview of text before printing or view a list of recently opened files and launch any of them from the list which is accessible by clicking Print Preview and Recent files respectively.

GetDiz

The program contains redo and undo commands which you can access from the Edit menu. If you do not feel like using program shortcuts for cutting, pasting, copying and deleting, you can access the commands from the Edit menu or use the command buttons at the bottom. You use the Find/Replace command on the Edit menu to look for specific text in the document and replace it with text of your choice. In case you need to enter the current time any where in the document, you don’t have to worry about getting the format right, you can easily insert it anywhere by placing the cursor in the desired position and clicking the Date/Time option on the Edit menu or just use the Ctrl+D hotkeys.

If you don’t fancy the default background color, font or text colour, you can easily change them to liking by clicking Set Background Color and Set default Font and Color. You can also set a default font colour for all text being printed by clicking Set Print Font and choosing a suitable font. You can allow the program to accept dragging and dropping of files,word-wrap, to launch URLs when they are clicked or to show line numbers by checking the respective options and making sure they are all enabled. You can also set the program to trim text before pasting or convert Linux files added to windows by checking the respective options.

You can allow only one instance of GetDiz to be opened instead of opening multiple files on multiple windows by checking the allow only one instance option. You can choose between 24 available languages by selecting your preferred language from the Language submenu on the Options  menu. You can manipulate program width and height by selecting whether they should be automatically defined by size of text, by the use or use same dimensions for all files. Help is available in form of compiled HTML and can be accessed by selecting Content from the Help menu. On the same menu you can check for updates by selecting Look for new version or donate to the cause by selecting the appropriate Donate option based on the currency you wish to use.

Conclusion

GetDiz is a wonderful text editor and fits the bill as a Notepad replacement.

Functionality had to be sacrificed a bit in order for this to happen, but if you are not a very demanding user, then sending emails with the help of ActiveExperts SendEmail is more than enough.
