Gmail is one of the most popular email service. It gained popularity initially because it offered much more free space that its close competitors. And it kept increasing the free space down the line. Till a few days back, Gmail used to come with a whopping 7.5 GB of free space. That's quite a lot of space to hold your emails. Now Google has increased that even further. Google announced yesterday that Gmail will now come with 10 GB of free storage space. You don't need to do anything at your end to get this extra free storage; Google will automatically upgrade that for you shortly.
This is a great news for those who were on verge of exhausting their free storage space on Gmail. We earlier reviewed a tool that helps you to find large emails in Gmail, so that you can selectively delete them and regain some free space. Now, you might not need to do that, as you have a full 2.5 GB of extra free storage space. This does leaves me with a question: If Google is offering 10 GB of free storage space on Gmail, why only 5 GB on Google Drive? Shouldn't a service that is supposed to hold files, videos, photos, etc. offer more space than a service that just stores email?
