Repair Video Files for DivX Free: DivXRepair

DivXRepair is a free utility software meant for repairing video file for DivX. The tool attempts to get rid of damaged frames and reassemble the file. Once in a while, you come across DivX files with freezing images, lost sound or discoloured pixels which are characteristics of damaged frames on a DivX file.

Once the installation is complete, the installer attempts to set the record straight. It acknowledges that DivXRepair is based on VirtualDub. The installer was not bundled with any annoying adware.

Features of this DivX repairing tool

The main feature of DivXRepair is the video repair feature. It has the ability to break down DivX files into frames and check each for damaged frames. Any damaged frames are discarded and an entirely new file is created from the recovered frames.

How to use it

The user interface is very simple and you will have no problem finding your way around. The simplicity of the interface makes it easy to use. The interface holds three buttons at the top, a file list at the centre, and a progress bar and two buttons at the bottom.

To fix any DivX files, all you need to do is to browse for a file and hit the Repair file button. The program immediately opens a text file containing information on the bad frames it found on the file. You can empty the list by hitting the Empty list button.

I found it very weird that the stop button was not enabled during repair. You had to use the Quit button to halt the repair. The interface did not allow for resizing of the program window.

Opinion

Trouble began once I set out to find out if the software actually works. After a dozen tries I gave up on the program. Nothing I tried seemed to work- I got to crash the program half of the times I tried. On the other half a dozen tries, the program attempted to repair files with no success. It opened the log file and froze until I hit the exit button. Apart from the text file, there was no other way to find out what progress the software was making. The software lacks support for drag and drop. I was able to empty the list during repair which I think should not happen. The reliability of the software was very much at question and you are better off looking for alternatives like VLC media player.

Verdict

I get the feeling that not much work went into the DivX repair tool development and testing of the DivXRepair.

You are an one man army. Your goal is to kill all the zombies created by the scientists. Stroll around the streets and laboratory to collect nine varieties of guns, money, ammo, etc.

Gameplay of Zombie Shooter:

Zombie shooter is an action packed shooting game. This game is a 3D top down shooting game. Hold your guns tight and face the zombies without fear.

The scientists have created zombies in the laboratory to threaten the human race. Now it's your duty to kill the zombies and save the world. You are a soldier who is armed with different guns. The guns available are Two Pistols 9, Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Freeze Rifle, Plasma Rifle,Flame Thrower, and Magma Minigun.

The details are pretty clear but have a keen look around because the zombie rats and dogs approach from the corners to suck your blood. Shoot all the glowing boxes for guns, ammo, health, money, and some special upgrades. Stand behind walls and let the zombies come straight up to you; so that it's easier to kill them.

The background rock music is too good; motivates you more to rock and roll. This game has all the elements to keep you occupied for hours (I'm saying this from my personal experience). Hope I get nice comments, so that my boss will not be mad at me for playing this single game, the whole day.

The controls of this game are:

Use Mouse to look around.
Left click to shoot.
Right click to hit the nuclear weapon (available in gun stand mode).
Scroll mouse wheel to change weapons.
[WASD] keys to move the soldier.
F1 for help.
[F] to on or off flashlight.
Esc for menu.

This shooting game has three modes:

After installing you will be first asked to enter your name and then choose a male or female character. Then you can also select easy or normal or hard levels to play. Then there are three modes to play:

Campaign: The game starts on a lonely road and eventually you have to start killing the rats for a start. Search for some guns, ammo, and money in the glowing boxes. There are some spots marked round and red. After you complete the level they will turn green; when you stand on that spot you will proceed to next level. Before proceeding to next level you will be given choice to buy some stuff or upgrade your character. With the money you've collected buy some upgrades and weapons. You can also upgrade your strength, speed, health, and accuracy after completing stages.

Survive: In this mode you are all alone on a small road, where all the zombies and animals keep attacking. You just have to shoot them and collect the upgrades to survive. After you get killed your high score will be recorded (check the screenshot below).

Gun Stand: In this mode, there is only a big machine gun and all the zombies will be attacking the wall as shown in below screenshot. You just have to protect your wall from the attack. After you kill some zombies, you will get a nuclear bomb indicated in Yellow color. Hit right click on mouse to activate the nuclear bomb; this kills all the zombies at a time. Again new zombies will start attacking; you just have to survive as much time as you can. In the end they break the wall and destroy the machine gun. Then your high score will be recorded.

You can configure to display the blood color in green also. You can change it by going to options and enter a password to store your settings.

The imaginatively named PowerPoint Graph Creator is a free add-in tool that allows you to include graphs in your presentation. Most people would say that can already be done in PowerPoint, but this add-in allows more convenience and is easier to use.

Features of PowerPoint graph creator

The program has a number of features which make it easier to use as compared to in-built tools. They are as follows:

Generation of random graph – the program allows the user to generate a random graph where the user only needs to provide the number of nodes that need to be in the graph. The program creates a random graph that can be included in the presentation
Load previous graph – The program allows the user to include graphs that have been created in advance. The only shortcoming of this is that the program only supports the graphml format now. The user can load a pre-created graph into the presentation. After the graph has been loaded, the add-in allows the user to modify the appearance of the graph by changing from one layout to another.
Changing appearance – the appearance of a graph can be changed in the program by changing the layout. A number of styles are available for the user to choose from.

Downloading and Installation

The program is not very large. It is just over 500 KB in size and downloading is very simple. The installation is slightly tricky as there are no executable files in the compressed download package. It contains a number of application extensions, or .dll files which need to be included in the Microsoft Office installation directory. Besides, there are system level files and XML documents which need to be handled separately. Suffice to say, this is an installation not fit for those of us used to just opening an executable file and letting it do the rest.

Working and interface of PowerPoint Graph Creator

The add-in is rather straightforward and first time users shouldn't have too much problem. There isn't much of an interface to speak of. The graph can be generated either by the program, or a graph can be loaded. Only the graphml format is currently supported. The program allows the user to change the appearance of the nodes of the graph, by changing the size and color of the nodes. The interface and the program were created using the versatile NodeXL library.

Verdict

The software is still in the stages of infancy currently and the review does not have any bias against it, but the program cannot justify its presence in any way. The current generation Office suites allow much more flexibility in graph creation and inclusion in a presentation. However, if one does wish to have this add-on, it will not be harmful in any way. Create Mirror Reflection Effect on Photos with Inverted Image

Inverted Image is a free image editing tool which can do one very cool effect, it creates inverted reflections of images, similar to what you can see when an application is being sold, the box set in the background always has a reflected mirror of itself down below, almost as if the box is on a watery surface, the same thing can be done automatically with Inverted Image.

We created the effect which can be seen on the image above using Inverted Image. As you can see it looks very good, and it only took us a few mouse clicks. You’ve probably seen something similar done is advanced graphics tools like Photoshop, but since it costs money, adding this type of effects was out of your reach, but now with Inverted Image, not only that you can apply reflected inverted image effect, but you can also do it automatically, with no skill needed at all. Interesting features found in Inverted Image would be:

Support for large number of formats, JPEG, PNG, GIF, ICO, TIFF, 30 others
Add inverted reflection effect to images automatically
Adjust position, size, color, transparency of the inverted reflection
English, German, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Dutch languages

Inverted Image is a very small application, only around a megabyte in size, so it’s the perfect tool to use instead of Photoshop, which is both very expensive and you need to have good hardware to be able to install it, same thing goes for similar Photoshop alternatives like the GIMP, Paint.NET and LazPaint.

How to add reflected mirror image effect to images with Inverted Image

The first step that you need to do is to open up the image to which you want to apply the effect, by clicking on the Open button. There should be a reflected mirror of the image available right away, but it will probably not look good.

As you can see it’s not really transparent and the entire image is being reflected. Use the various editing options in the right sidebar in order to adjust the reflected image. Decrease the size from the 100% to something like 20-25%, it depends on the image. Then use the Transparency, top one is for top to bottom transparency while the bottom one is for bottom to top transparency.

Edits are practically complete, if you want you can make the reflection gray or black and white, if it’s not already. All that’s left now is to save the image. If you use a lot of transparency, make sure to save the image in either PNG or GIF, others formats do not support it.

Conclusion

Creating mirrored reflection on images is very easy with Inverted Image, you can adjust the effect in a lot of different ways. Reflection doesn’t have to be below the image, it can be beside it, or on top. To apply this effect in previously mentioned graphics editors you’d need to have some skill, but with Inverted Image you can have it done in a few seconds, try it, it’s free.
